Hi Hurlabrick, we received information today that our application will be processed in London. Thanks for updating!

Hello everyone,
Nice to meet you all. We are still new to this forum but the information found here is already very useful. It's great to have somewhere to ask questions and share experience.

Hi Hurlabrick,
we are happy for our details to be added to the spreadsheet for tracking; we are common-law partners, from London, UK and the principal applicant is British.
Unfortunately for us, it looks like we are already on a longer path than the average, but perhaps something will change; application received in Sydney on 11th October 2018 (as per the CIC online services) but we only received our first AOR on 18th January 2019.

Thank you!

Thank you for participating, just post updates n this thread and I will spot them.

The move from Mississauga to Sydney recently has seen longer processing times in Sydney than ever was the case in Mississauga I am afraid!

HI everyone! I got my sister to send off the identity documents CiC requested from us in early January.
Can anyone speak to how sending these requested documents prior to actual sponsor approval impacted their timelines if if at all?

It will probably set you back 4 - 6 weeks

Thanks for your reply.

The letter I received stated: "When you submit the requested information, if it meets the requirements for processing, it will then enter the queue based on it date of resubmission".

Would you happen to know if this is something they put on letters generically? Or if they are writing this - it means now I've technically submitted my application in February as opposed to October?

Cant really say. Experience of others is 4 - 6 weeks. You are reading standard wording. Overall, I would GUESS from the date of original submission, you are now likely looking at 10 - 11 months to approval.

No indeed, that is pretty pathetic for CIC. They used to take 6 - 10 weeks a year or so ago, but this seems to have slowed down now it is going to Sydney.

I wonder if there is any formal way we could highlight this change in processing time to an MP. This is really unacceptable to slow from 10 weeks to 5 months! You've got the best data set to do so!

Completely unacceptable really. Whoever had their entire application received and completed in 79 days on that spreadsheet hit the jackpot.

I really wouldn't get too hung up on the time it takes for initial (sponsor) approval - look at the bigger picture and how long the overall processing takes. Lots of things can result in delayed initial processing - like Christmas, people being off sick - or large amount of applications - applications being directed from another office... or even where someone hasn't completed the application properly or hasn't included documents that are required! Processing times overall are FAR quicker than they used to be.. be thankful for that

Don't forget Sydney processes applications for all the other routes for PR (as well as PR cards and Citizenship applications)! Spousal Applications are not the only ones processed at Sydney and I'm sure everyone thinks their application should be given priority.. and perhaps sometimes people aren't quite accurate when they give their details for the spreadsheet.. Just breathe and don't stress over things that can't be changed

Is it the sponsor or the PA who receives the first contact from Sydney after the application has been submitted?

I'm the sponsor who did the entire application (my boyfriend is very "just tell me where and when and I'll show up") so if he'll receive the first contact by email I just want to make sure I've got him paying attention to what emails he's got coming in.

The Sponsor, at least I was and I got the first email. The first lot of stuff is sponsor assessment, so all for you. But at the end of that they will start asking for medicals etc from the PA, it is then he will start getting comms on his MyCIC account - so get him to open an account and link the appolication (or do it for him) and check it regularly (or do it for him).
