Or... you dont change your 'My Profile' to say something cheesy like "Jedi in Training" or "Just another Dorian Grey" and instead, let the website dictate WHAT you are...could go either way then tho *lol*

You could always edit your profile to say "Senior Member"....

To reply to "certain peoples" negative emails..I am a Canadian citizen in the U.K. on a 2 yr work/holiday visa, the ONLY reason I came here was because my bf lives here and I wanted to travel around the U.K. and Europe.
I have been here 6 months now, I respect the fact that I am far from home and really respect the fact that I am in another country! I miss Canada, I am from Ontario, about an hour from Hamilton..Oh Hamilton..where do I begin!?..lol
Anyone living in Hamilton I'm sure realizes that it is a city, cities are expensive.
We have OHIP,RRSP's, benefits and welfare for those who need it..
Our garbage men make as much as a solicitor for cryin out loud, So I'm sure if "Steve" the garbage man is chilly in our oh so brutal winters he can buy a bear to put around himself!. Cable is NOT a must have anywhere in Canada, or any country that I know of for that matter!...Yes, cable sucks, doesn't it everywhere?? $100/month?? CABLE?? Crazy..you should shop around, I got it for less than $50, but then again I never watch it...Phones are a pretty penny, but there is not much choice there, unless you don't need one? If you just have a basic service with no call answer or call waiting.etc..then you should only be paying between $40-$50 a month. Car insurance is always highway robbery? Who are these shoeless people? We have salvation armies and charity shops that give free clothing and footwear to poor people, not that you'll see many in Ontario anyway...(Are you sure you weren't in Buffalo, N.Y.)?..lol.Hmmm...My bf's parents just moved and bought a house here for £330,000 WOW, not much for that price! That is almost the equivalent of $660,000, do you realize what you could get with that kind of money in Ontario??...A LOT! Like 5 bedrooms a 2 car garage AND a pool! Don't forget the 10 acres of land as well...Because there is actually land in Canada, Britain has ZERO land here, the weather is shite and the people all winge about petty things!? My point is if you don't like it..LEAVE! Bologna about being stuck there, save money by cutting off your internet and phone, get rid of your "fancy car" and move into a smaller flat/house and SAVE cash to move back here to your no land, bland food, grumpy people, T.V. tax payin country and make more space in mine for people who want to move to Canada and contribute more to our society than negativity and lack of intelligence!

Welcome to the forum, but this thread died a LOooooooong time ago.
The original post was a flamer, quoted from another forum, so the person responsible probably doesn't even read here. It was only kept going by artificial means by some folks who believe in quantity rather than quality of life!
However, we love Canada too!

Quantity must be balanced against quality.
If I could pick my own end, I'd die a violent death at 75. Shot in the back of the head by a jealous husband while running naked from my 20 year old lover's bed.
Before you lay into me kt, I utterly agree that people dying early in 3rd world countries (through disease or nastier reasons) is a foul thing. But the idea of living long just for the sake of it is not one that holds much appeal.
When my father died several years ago, aged 90 less a month, he was almost blind, more or less deaf, could hardly walk etc. I think he'd given up on life years before. I was sad to see him go but also relieved; for him.

I think the point is, there will always be things that each individual finds "better" in each different country. You can take the same person, plop them in 5 different countries around the globe and they will find things 'worse' then home about all 5 different countries... some people sadly only discover the hard way that they were not meant to immigrate. They are not able to overcome the strange and unfamiliar, they are the ones who lament ever having left home (not talking about normal homesickness that 90% of immigrants get including myself!) and should remain in their home country surrounded by familar sights/sounds and things they DO 'get'.
I don't think its exclusive of British or Canadian people, I think it crosses all countries and age/sex/race boundaries, either you are an adventurer/pioneering spirit and you have the inner strength to overcome these obstacles, or you ain't... dont throw tar and feathers on a pig and call it turkey, it's still a hog at the end of the day.
So thats my peice and the soapbox is now free for the next in line
