Overseas Employers are Back in Town and Ready to Recruit

As skill shortages continue to bite around the world, the competition is fierce for the best skilled workers, and more companies are turning to the UK and Europe to get the skilled professionals they can’t find at home. The Opportunities Overseas Expo including the Energy, Mining and Engineering International Jobs Expo returns to the UK.

Australian, New Zealand and Canadian employers were so impressed with the calibre and character of the people they recruited in March that they're coming to Leeds (30 June – 1 July) and London (7-8 July) for more. As Britain’s unemployment rate continues to climb, job prospects remain strong in these countries, offering Brits and Europeans a change in lifestyle and a bigger pay packet abroad.

Mega projects mean major opportunities!

Australia’s booming resources sector has a whopping US$220 billion of committed gas projects in the pipeline – the mining sector alone is forecast to require 150,000 workers over the next five years, with large infrastructure projects generating aggressive demand for engineering, construction and engineering workers.

Canada too, is feeling the squeeze as billion-dollar energy projects come on line, fuelling huge demand for construction and trade workers – up to an estimated 190,000 by the end of the decade. Large infrastructure projects in British Columbia are also creating critical labour shortages, with the province forecasting a shortfall of 61,500 workers by 2020.

In New Zealand, the Christchurch rebuild – now expected to cost NZ$30 billion – will need 30,000 workers over the next decade, driving huge demand for skilled engineering and construction workers, while the country’s growing energy and IT sector is also under pressure.

Build a brighter future at Opportunities Overseas Expo

Opportunities Overseas is the UK’s largest job and migration event, and the springboard for thousands of Brits every year looking to build a brighter future abroad. Hundreds of jobs are available in Australia, new Zealand and Canada across the engineering, construction, healthcare, IT and mining sectors, ranging from minerals and mining engineers, heavy industrial construction to IT managers/developers, nurses and GPs.

Job seekers can meet face to face with leading employers, including Lycopodium (engineering), Monadelphous (heavy industrial engineering and construction), the Government of Western Australia, Brookfield Multiplex (construction/engineering), Healthcare Australia (HCL), Readify and Potentia (IT).

Expert-led migration seminars will run every hour on the hour, providing potential migrants with everything they need to know, from specialist visa and migration assistance to sorting out practical details such as shipping belongings and pets, transferring funds and putting in place their banking and health insurance.

Representatives from the Government of Western Australia will be discussing immigration and sponsorship opportunities within this booming mining state.

“There’s never been a better time for Brits to make the move,” says UK General Manager Spencer Hawkes.

“Let’s face it – in the middle of an economic recession, the prospect of heading abroad to brighter prospects and a bigger pay cheque is very appealing. Opportunities Overseas Expo is the place to make it all happen!”
