Is this an example of the much-vaunted BE banter?
Sure, it's just code for "Sod off, Newbies, & let us million-posters 'banter' for 5 or 6 pages." I get it now.

I'm going to try something crazy and answer the original post now, please no-one yell at me!
I always wanted to leave this miserable, depressing little island, it was just a matter of where. Preferably somewhere warmer but other than that, I wasn't fussed. I speak 4 languages already (and no mixed heritage so no head start on that either!) and if I'd found a country I liked, I would probably have learned another to be able to move there.
I want to visit Aus/NZ but the distance from family would probably be too much and it would be too difficult to get into for me unless I married a local but there's not much chance of that here in sunny...Yorkshire
.
Germany and Spain were strong contenders, as was Canada with Japan or somewhere that general direction (I'm not being offensive, I just never chose a definite country over there) on the list as well or possibly somewhere in the north of Africa, Morocco maybe. As it happens, I met someone and fell in love and he just so happens to be American and wants to stay around his home state so that's where we're going.
In summary: my husband told me I had to

Is it actually possible for you to make a post without having a pop at someone? I'm sure you're not that objectionable in real life...

To answer the OP, I never wanted to live anywhere else but New York City so that's why I emigrated to America rather than Oz.
Besides which, if I wanted to live with Aussies I would simply move to Earls Court in London.
