I've know too many people in that condition. Sitting and watching your baby die because you can't buy antibiotics because your country's economy is up the creek without a paddle is not the same as waiting in a semi-detached in England for your paperwork to come through.

Here endeth the lesson.
I suppose I am biased toward Mexican immigrants. This is based entirely on my first-hand experiences. I've been in their homes, ate their food, and enjoyed their rich warm culture. I feel no animosity toward Asian (for example) immigrants, I just don't "know" them. Yet, when I hear noises against the "spics" or "wetbacks" it effects me on a more personal level. I know what they've sacrificed to live in the States. I see who they are and I respect them, because they are human.... just like me.

Any person that can relegate another group to "less than human" is severely troubled in my eyes.

I personally don't care where people come from, does not bother me what their ethnic origins are, not interested in their color, religion, sexual persuasion or background. I only care, that they came here by one method "Paper/documents/passport" LEGALLY. If not, why are others waiting 1-12 years + for Green cards/visas etc. The "Boat", whether it's US or UK or any country cannot possibly take more passengers then it can hold.
1st thing we need to do is fine & imprison executives/directors/owners of companies that hire cheap labor illegal immigrants. Second we need to tighten our borders, this would also help in the fight against terrorism.
My pet hate, is me always trying to abide by the rules and watching others flouting the law.

PS. Raise the Federal and State minimum wage to $10 (Should be anyway), maybe the "legals" would want to do some of these undesirable jobs.

I don't disagree on ;hate- there are plenty enough reasons to hate people based on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.

As to the minimum wage... if there were not 10-15 million illegals here to take the lower paid jobs, the free market would already have dictated that higher wages must be offered by those employing such people.
Take out 10 million illegals and McDonalds would offer 12$ an hour...to serve you your $4.89 quarterpounder and $2.99 fries.

Especially when they come over and get a free drivers license etc etc.
My hispanic boss told me about a time when they used to have a program where it was possible for mexicans to work here for a bit and then go home for a while. Apparently everyone loved it and it worked fine until someone decided they could win votes by stopping it
Put the damn fence up - whats the point of having laws and not enforcing them? Or change the laws and find somthing that works!

The wall seems pointless to me, it's not even covering 1/3 of the whole border.

If they're not going to do it properly, they should spend the money on something else.

Paying a descent minimum wage would not, should not increase the price of McDonald's. The companies need to make less profit. We have a situation where oil/Banks/Media/Mega corps are making immoral amounts of money. Forgot, music, movie, sports people. Frankly I am angry at the likes of Bill Gates, the $45 billion man & Walmart Family ripping us or their employee's off. They then go off as in Bill Gates Foundation, give away billions of dollars of our money, in their name. Whilst looking at Uni's for my son, we noticed in say Virginia, Universities with buildings & libraries donated by the rich Tobacco families. Something immoral about that. They knowingly gave the population Cancer & then we are to thank them for their philanthropy. Screw them, its our money.

Before someone accuses me of being a whiny liberal commie. NOT TRUE. I am a Thatcherite Conservative.
