UK Foods at regular stores
I thought it might be a nice idea to create a thread where we can share UK foods that we've found outside of specialist stores.
Personally I've found:
Stauffers of Kissel Hill (SKH)
Proper Crumpets baked right there in the store
Crosse and Blackwell Vinegar
Giant
Jacobs cream crackers
Real scottish shortbread (I forget the brand but it's the same packet I used to get in blighty )
Walmart
Carr's water biscuits (also at Giant but $1 cheaper in walmart)
Also see my thread about alternatives to UK foods

Harris Teeter - Tetlys tea bags
Lowes* HP (Steak) Sauce, English Mustard, Marmite
There is a celtic store down town that sells flakes and crunchies as well
* the food store and not the home depot type store!

Heinz (vegetarian) Baked Beans
Laughing Cow Cheese
Walkers Shortbread
Patak's Curry Sauces
I'm sure there's more but I can't think of 'em right now.

Britol farms: Has all kinds of British chocolate and candy. I also found Alpen, wheetabix, and some other things too but can't remember offhand.

Didn't get on with the British Blend Tea myself tbh but it was the closest I found to REAL tea - I get some regular Tetley's sent over from UK - people back there are surprised when I ask for it for birthday presents etc but hey, ya gotta have good tea right?

Does anyone else think the Colmans Mustard here has been toned down a bit? My six year old loves the stuff here, he sometimes even eats a bit a beef with his Colmans . Back in Blighty he took a hugh mouthful of the stuff and nearly blew his brains out!! :scared:

There's a difference in hotness of each. The readymade mustard is far hotter than the powder.

My wife had been talking about how much hotter it is than American mustard. He watched as I spread it liberally over a roast beef sandwich then spread it even thicker than I had before taking a bite and saying, "This isn't hot... this isn't hot... why do you say this is OOOOOOH this IS hot, this is HOT" bless

Are you talking about the powder or the readymade mustard in the jar?

It's the ready made stuff in the jar. Haven't been able to find the powder, that would be far preferable. I can't remember completely but I thought the stuff in Blighty was from a jar too

Ooh hang on a minute, I've just realised I miss read Penguins post. I thought she was saying the powder was stronger, not the jar .
I'm just getting myself confused now. I'm leaving....

Anyway, back on topic...
In the Dallas area, Kroger Signature stores have a British Imports section. Some good stuff, but VERY pricey! I mean, a can of Heinz Baked Beans for a buck fifty? Come on! They were like pennies in the Motherland, well 8 years ago they were.
HEB in San Antonio - some stores also have British Imports section. You can get Yorkie bars, Lion bars, Double-Deckers, HobNobs, Angel Delight, HP sauce, Salad Cream, Typhoo and PG Tips tea bags etc etc... again for a too high a price, IMHO.
HEB Central Markets have Brit foods scattered throughout the stores.
I've generally found that Indian deli's (Asian Indian, as in curries) stock English teas for a reasonable price. Also a good place to stock up on nan breads!
Cheers,

Where do you get the crumpets ?
You're not that far from me, and I'd drive up there for some crumpet ;O)
Giant used to sell them but they dissapeared from the shelves.
I even phoned their head office but they said they weren't a good seller and were discontinued.
My daughter just got back from a trip to UK and bought some back, I kept looking at them in the fridge, and almost left it to late !

Looks like SKH are very local to me and with only 7 stores (around Lancaster, York, Harrisburg and Dover PA).
