Think how I feel. I live only a couple of miles from Parsley's flipping great giant church! It's on Gender Road in my neighbourhood!

I dont quite understand that though...clearly lots of people do come over on H1B's. Granted the chances are slim but I wouldnt say its pointless to even try. The guy is a CCIE after all, that is still a very sought after cert (depending on other experience as well)...

It is true, there is no harm in trying. However, when there are a number of people who fit the bill for every IT job and can start within a couple of weeks at no cost to the employer, waiting for over a year and paying a few thousand dollars is not going to be top on any companies list of priorities.

Thanks pejpm1... nice to hear something positive. As I understand it though it doesn't have any influence on obtaining a visa, even with 13 years of relevant experience like me. I think I qualify for the H1B but based upon what people are saying it doesn't look great and the time scales for me make things difficult.

I am looking at L1B at the moment and I am in discussion with several companies already.

Thanks!

L1 is a much better visa, though you've got to have worked for a place for a year before they can get it to transfer you.

The major pluses are if your bringing family over as the spouse will be allowed to work, unlike on the H1...kids won't be though, but oh well.

Thanks for that. Is it possible to work for a global company on a B1 in the USA (or any other visa) while I am waiting for the one year before applying for an L1? Thanks again...

No. Time spent in the US must be accounted for and deducted from your eligibility.
