it depends how high the humidity is and that fluctuates daily here so i'm forever playing with the controls lol! without the high humidity i like a warm mid to high 70's inside however now that summer is here and it's very humid i have it down to 69 and although it feel somewhat cool we have to have it that low to pull the humidity out of the air. OH doesn't mind the humidity too much but then he's grown up with it.

btw our elec bill for last month was $789 ~ how does that compare to y'alls?

Ours was $489 but the gas was as much as your leccie bill...even more in winter.

Do all bills end in $89?

Gezz...when my AC ads more than $20 a month to my bill I cry....$50 was the most so far...and that was trying to bring the temp down...now I put the AC on just a few hours a day to dry out the house...we are still just as cool...but are not spending a lot...

I'm doing well then having a $120 summer bill...the next one will be higher because its so humid...I'm still hoping for under $150

I have ours set between 76 and 78, and our last leccy bill was $358.

I blame the double story ceilings and the open rooms for the high bills.

I change the thermostat about 6 times a day, I can't leave it alone. We don't like it too cold, 78 deg.

We have high ceilings in FL...our summer bill if we are there a month is about $150...up from $90 when the place is empty....

We just went to a family members new house just of Cape...its going to cost a few thousand to keep warm in winter per month....good job money is no object for them....

$789??? That's nearly our house payment!! Our electric costs between $120-$150 all year, the lower number is Winter and the higher is Summer. Our house is all electric, no gas.

I use a lot of leccie cooking...the microwave is electric.

We cook on the BBQ all the time its hot so we don't heat up the house....or we eat out which is cheaper...

We like (OK I and my OH has got used to it) a cold bedroom about 64f at night <awaiting how cold comments >.
Its usually that normally so we don't need heating in the Winter or much cooling in the Summer.

During the day depends if I'm active - 68f if not 71f and evenings about 74f.

Our bills this Summer as its mild are really low a lot lower than Winter. Ah the advantages of living in a moderate place.

I'm... shocked by how low so many of you set your AC.

Our house is ~4000sq.ft and if we set our AC to ~70deg we would easily break the $1000/mo electricity bill in the summer.

As it is, we have the AC at between 78F and 83F, depending on the humidity. Our highest electricity bill ever was last August, when outside temperatures were >100F every day of the month, and that was $450.

Our average summer bill last year, when Dallas was baking in a heatwave was $350/mo and this year, with the cool weather it's been <$250/mo. Gas (really just for water heating) only added $25 this month.

I would be FROZEN if we cooled the place to 68F like some of you do. Bloody frozen.
