I reread it and realised it could seem that I didn't think you knew that

So wanted it to be clear to everyone else I didn't think that!!
But thanks for understanding

It's 95F and we had another terrific thunderstorm overnight...so it's like a steam bath outside. It feels quite cool when I walk indoors...79F.

Our upstairs room has its own AC and heating....it would be too hot or cold to use without it....

OH doesn't mind the humidity too much but then he's grown up with it.

btw our elec bill for last month was $789 ~ how does that compare to y'alls?
Ours is at about 78F and the summer electricity bills are around $400 a month eek. Antiquated system, would be better with 2 zones for up and downstairs. I leave it on all day for the guinea pigs.

What I don't get, is some people I know have the temp set between 68/70 and who then like to 'snuggle' under the blankets at night to keep warm.

WTF is that all about?? Why not just save some energy and dollars, have the temp set higher and use less bedding?

You must have a swamp cooler? My house is only AC I wish I had dual cooling

I keep it at 80F except at night when I set it at 75F. It's pretty humid here now so ceiling and tower fans aren't so effective as they are when it's dry. But the cost of the electricity used during the summer is offset by the warm winters. Rarely last winter did I need to turn the heating on so my gas bills are next to nothing.

Ours is set at 74F and our summer electricity bill is about $200 a month.
Today it's 92F and 90% humidity...horrible.

76/78f should be good for everybody
below 70 is stupidity ..the chances of the outside unit freezing
up greatly increases after that ...
