Can be if the power is out - you can't pump it.

Good advice! Think mine are OK.

Yes, I got one of those old-fashioned rubber stoppers when we first moved in. Our normal bathtub metal plug-thing does leak, which is annoying to someone like me who loves baths.

So all the governors in the neaby states have declared states of emergency (whatever that means). Dannel Malloy of CT, Chris Christie of NJ, Deval Patrick of MA, Jack Markell of DE, and probably some others I haven't heard about. Serious stuff!

Baths are full, plenty of drinking water and food, garden furniture etc brought indoors. Hopefully if we lose power it won't be for too long as the NJ Governer lives nearby.

You won't be having tea outside? Lightweights.

Seriously though, good luck to those on the east coast, especially the low-lying flat bits near the edge.

We are about 30 miles from the coast.

Hubby went out for suppliers this morning and brought home frozen food. It didn't occur to him that no power means 2 freezers of rotting food.

Send him back out for a portable generator.

Unhappy Re: Sandy

We have been told emergency vehicles only on the road after 6 pm tonight in our Township. It looks like the center of the storm will be going right over us here in Central Jersey. The canal path across the street just opened 6 days ago following damage from Irene.

So, here in Richmond we've got light drizzle and some gusts of wind, but nothing special (yet !).
For various reasons, I've spent the day criss crossing the i95 and everytime there has been a convoy of contractor vehicles heading North.... Trucks for fixing power lines and 18 wheelers loaded with industrial sized generators. Get the feeling we've been spared and they're already being redeployed to where they'll be needed most.
Have fun and stay safe !
Carl.

Yes, unless Sandy makes an early and hard left turn then central Virginia looks ok.

I had hoped for weather bad enough to close the office but not to actually hurt anyone or cause damage. My next hope is in our US IT centre being in NJ and direct in the firing line - cant log on, can't work....

Seriously, keep safe everyone!

Not to mention possibly messing up voting day!

As it is, I wonder if Halloween night will be a fizzle? It better not be. What in the world will I do with 4 huge bags of lollies?
