Same here except normally it's because some stupid person of the native African variety has stolen the cables! ( and that isn't racist it's just true - shack dwellers steal the cables to sell on the black market or scrap ) Criminally inclined poverty stricken loveliness we all try to deny exists.

Who are the "native Africans" exactly?

I have friends from South Africa - one is of Dutch/Boer ancestry and another of British, but both are South African natives from several generations ago.

This is definitely one for the record books! I couldn't imagine living through this hell. Hope everyone has enough supplies to make it through.

Survival hints:
1. Withdraw money from the bank (incase of power cut)
2. Prepare flashlights, batteries and candles.
3. Bottled water and non-perishable foods.
4. Fill bath tub with water.
5. Gas canisters and portable stove.
6. Do all laundry before any power cuts.
7. Gasoline

Fortunately since both the kids left home years ago and didn't bother to take their clothes with them, I have clean clothes for several weeks ...
