So if the company is in say the central, then which towns would be nice to live?

Don't have sky so no.

But ok I get it, thanks

Well if its a foot in the door I need then it'll have to do, and I'll have to find the best I can at the time.

Good news though, my current recruitment consultant works with a few forging companies in the US, one in Detroit, one near Chicago and the other near Buffalo by the falls, and he asked me if I would want to work in the US. ....
Now you're talking, and getting closer to reality. A visit to Portland, OR to look at houses is unlikely to help you at all. If you're dead set on coming over for research purposes, a road trip from Buffalo, NY to Chicago, (and back?) is likely much more relevant for your line of work, through the rust belt of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana.

Fairly sure Sky TV is not the only source of news out there. I may be wrong though!

You would be able to get a huge house in Detroit though!

Thankyou for the positive feedback, where I live in the Black Country in the UK our neighbourhood is good, people are nice and know most the areas, so I know where I would like to live.

I don't know America so it would be nice to have so positive feedback from the people that know America.....please.

Thank you Lt Pulaski, this sort of trips looks the right sort of way we need to go.

Thanks mate

Grosse Pointe is nice, I hear (a good friend and colleague of mine is from there), with some dämned expensive houses, but with some that are more affordable, and some rentals. ..... Search for Grosse Pointe, MI, at zillow.com.

Then you just have to work out how to get them jacked off their foundations and transported to a decent area to live.
