That I would not understand, easy to cross the river there. It's a pain to cross an international border though these days, and unless a small crossing, can take 20-40 mins each way idling, and well for our car at current prices and exchange rate not worth 4 savings.

Very quick border crossing from Washington to Osoyoos BC. There's a one man border check point there The Canadian border guy was a bit surprised when he saw our California license plates and asked the standard question if we were carrying firearms. Day was when you didn't need a passport but after 9/11 that changed.

It's a bit more complicated crossing to Tijuana. You have to get Mexican auto insurance beforehand which means a stop in San Ysidro. Crossing back on a weekend can take a long time also

After a week or so of holding steady I wasn't expecting any price movements until after the New Year holiday weekend, but I stopped off for gas this evening and found that my favourite BP had cut the price from $1.849 down to $1.819. Happy New Year!

All the ones this way tend to be fairly busy, general average is around 20 minutes, sometimes up to an hour or more if its a weekend or holiday.

Pt. Roberts is usually a 10-20 min crossing, usually 1 normal open and 1 Nexus lane open.

Few questions asked into the US, just where do you live, and what are you coming to pick up...

Coming back it's always did you buy anything and how much is the value.

Cumbies by us is now down to $1.85 with their discount card but it ranges from that to $2.15 in town.

When we were up in Maine last night, Cumbies up on the NH/ME border was $1.81G with the discount card.

Saw $1.65 yesterday, but $1.69 seems more typical in SC. $1.69 to $1.71 in TX.

As low as $1.65/gallon in some parts of Arizona(Casa Grande).

Also, since gas in Yuma, Az, is around $1.92/gallon it pays to fill up both ways on a trip to California from the Phoenix metropolitan area.

That is quite a hit when you consider that using the Sam's Club mastercard actually gets you 5% cash back with no credit charge.

It's not though. The collapse of the oil price is reverberating around the economy and is pulling us all down.

I'd far prefer the economy to be growing steadily, than crashing as it's currently doing than save a few bucks at the pump. Petrol is already far too low priced in the US as it is.

Actually the US economy is doing fine. The reasons for low oil prices are overproduction by OPEC and domestically as well as weak economy in China and the other BRIC nations.

Besides gas prices have been artificially high to begin with.
