BP is still at $1.969 in the next town, but locally prices have dropped 8c-10c over the past couple of weeks and there are now BP's at $1.939 and $1.959.

In 4 days we went from 1.12 per liter to 1.28 per liter.

Apparently a pipeline down in the US causing a shortage.

Article is for Vancouver, a bit cheaper where I am.

Why are gas prices in Vancouver sky rocketing?

I must admit that I don't fully understand the price workings (fixings) of the oil and gas industry.

That explains why it has gone up 23 cents here.

It's been creeping up for a week or so. Bulk place in town, when you shop first to get 5c off is still under the $2 mark at $1.98 but most places are around $2.01-2.09 range.

Has anyone ever noticed the octane level of 'UK unleaded petrol' is 95. However the octane level in regular 'gas' in the US is 87. Its a big difference in performance, life of the engine as a higher octane level is known to reduce engine wear and get you better MPG with the higher octane level.

It's funny how British engines wear out then, whereas US seem to run for 200,000 miles without an issue, and 300,000 isn't a big deal. ...... Your link between octane and wear is flawed.

It's not a fair comparison, though. Most old British cars rusted away before the engine could make it that far.
