Price of gas update...

Locally, no drop this week, but down the road a way (along the route I'm taking tomorrow), it's dropped to $1.79 - and our Kroger points will get another 10c off that!
Nice way to start a holiday trip.

The prices today are very flat for the common brands (Shell, Exxon, BP) across a 100 mile swath of NC, covering the areas I have mentioned on thread, almost everywhere is selling at $1.979 -$1.999. ..... except for the town nearest where I live, which is priced at $2.099 -$2.109.
Discount brand/ no brand stations are the same, with only isolated stations selling for 1-2c less.
I got 10 gallons this morning to see me over the weekend, at $1.979 and I hope to get a better price when I fill up again on Monday.
..... If you'd told me last September I'd be paying $1.979 in January and expecting a further fall, I'd have known that you were barking mad!

I filled up on Friday afternoon. $2.17 at the time. It's back down to $1.98 again. I think they did that one on purpose ...

So, any thoughts on how the death of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia might mix things up? I wouldn't be surprised if there was another coup or Yemen and ISIS made a move.

I'm old enough to remember waiting in long queues at the petrol pumps in the 70's, and my big fear with all these oil companies now cutting back on production is that we'll see this sort of thing happen again....

Was bad enough a few years ago when there was gasoline rationing after Hurricane Sandy, but that was just a temporary supply issue.

Anyway, I don't know if it's just because of the snow storm because they weren't that much cheaper than a couple other stations nearby, who weren't busy at all. Just very weird.
Luckily, we still had a half tank...I'm normally getting close to the red line by that point in the week and hold out till the grocery shop as it's on the way and cheapest
