I know this isn't what you mean, but sweet crudes are more expensive. It's the sour ones you want to be running as they are cheaper as fewer refineries can run them, so less of a market. That Venezuelan crude is just nasty! Whereas some of the North Sea stuff I have seen is virtually clear.

Quelle surprise - this morning I had to fill 'er up - it was back to $4.09. Could have been worse though, I had a drive into the semi-sticks to the west yesterday and a few garages out that way already had it at $4.20 ...

On the other hand, I'm guessing the tax on fuel here (UK) helps fund the NHS. So when you consider US health care, maybe it's not all bad

That's just a dollar for dollar comparison based on a conversion of £/ltr to $/gal. In practice, your driving habits and type of vehicle you drive determines where it is cheaper overall.
