In Lakeland it's consistently a little more than in Tampa, too.

$4.29 at the 'cheap' station when I tanked this morning. Glad I don't commute anymore.

I saw $3.87 at lunch today. Then I realised that was a petrol station that closed a few months ago ...

Still half the price of petrol in the UK though, as I tell people when they start their 'the sky is falling' routine.

So many people want to drive a vehicle that's way beyond what they realistically need, and just for show...

True. It's 1.42 per liter average in UK now. I just can't believe the number of people here that will still buy 5 liter V8 gas-guzzlers

Really? I can easily believe the number of people that do it. It's a mentality, and (unfortunately) they'll probably never change.

Especially to do a lot of in-town driving. Oh well, it's their money I suppose.

Maybe when gas hits $5 or $6 pg will they change maybe? It's the "drill baby drill" crowd who think it'll go back to $2 pg and those are the ones buying the gas-guzzlers.

It is but then they should stop complaining and they won't choosing to blame Obama instead

Oh aye - that goes without saying. Being a tight bastard myself I'm having trouble with the fact that my small car has trouble squeezing out 27mpg (granted I do mostly in town driving myself).

The definition of success in the area I live, consistently seems to be based on having a truck or SUV that's worth more than your home.
