For those that arent aware Florida is currently languishing under a several year long drought and this year has really been a bad one....no significant rain since february and with scorching days everything is getting like the sahara. Including the lawns. Except for those that pour 1000's of gallons of water on theirs everyday....oh they are so green and lovely! We are not in that category, preferring to have enough water for everyone to drink and wash than have a lovely green lawn.

Anyway, the HOA yesterday sent out threatening letters to all those who's lawns are not like Wimbledon Center Court...us included...saying if we dont do something about them we will be sued. Well, ho ho ho.

I have responded by pointing out that, while I realise the phrase "Social Conscience" in American translates to "F&&k thy neighbor" this is not the case in the UK and as long as drought conditions exist I shall not be wasting water on my lawn and seeing as its a weed it will be all lovely and green again at the first smell of rain.
Time to get on your knees and start praying for some rain. Failing that, could you not turn your lawn into a patio or rock garden instead?

Several such cases reached the courts in CA during the '90's drought. iirc, the HOAs usually won unless there were drought restrictions in place by the water supplier.

hey awp assuming your water company has not enforced a water restriction and taking into account giantaxe's post above maybe if you contact your water company and if they agree with you get them to email/fax their response so you'll then have something to produce to the nazi's....just a thought

Paint it white with a big red cross in the middle, that'll look lovely.

BOO!

You'll be really glad you didn't go on the Turnpike this weekend, I've just driven over it and it's not moving, 'people having picnics at the side of the road, not moving'
