FYI my ranch home has stairs both up to the kitchen as well as down to the basement. One doesn't have to have a multilevel home to have stairs within.

Someone just told me my house is called a Ranchalow but I think that's just crazy.

My home is in no way a bungalow or bungalo hybrid for that matter.

Unless one is capable of levitating, taking the stairs is necessary for one to reach the kitchen/front/side/back door as well as the basement.

That's what I'm saying.. I have stairs too, but a single level.
*I* call it a bungalow. But that's me.

I always called those a split-level home. Is that what you guys are talking about?

Here's where you can still see the porch:
http://britishexpats.com/photopost/s...85&ppuser=1851

And before everything got huge:
http://britishexpats.com/photopost/s...19&ppuser=1851

But you can see that our lot is slightly elevated here (stope up from the street on the right):

Mine's basically a poor-man's Craftsman.

Everyone will get to help with the back yard though; it's a disaster area now. :)
Think hardscaping and no grass.

I do apologize to the OP for remaining cynical to the bitter end.

But I take minor exception to this comment. Thus far in this thread, I learnt of the demise of the OP's parents, the fact he has a 92 year old grandmother and that he may or may not (depending on source) have a wife.

Seems like the whole family thing had already very much been brought up.

And jokes aside, it might have been an interesting angle to throw in for a radio interview... "oh BA, why would you keep a father away from his child... at Christmas!?" :)

i just read this whole thread, and it made me think twice about actually hanging around the british expat website!
alot of you guys just take the piss out of people and are completely disrespectful towards them..if you thought he was a troll, why not just ignore the thread and leave the posting of advice to people who wanted to try to be helpful?:(
why are people so nasty?
i certainly hope i never have to post in some difficulty asking for help from people who may know the answer...it would really upset me if people were so rude to me when i was asking for help...most of the situations we all get into in life are partly our own doing, and most people don't need to be reminded of that....
those who were so rude and cynical should be ashamed of themselves....
all you succeed in doing is making this forum look like a rather unfriendly place to be...
