Anyway, another comfort food is the pasty, cornish or cheese and potato...which reminds me, BJ's were doing a sample of their cheese puff appetizers, they're basically a open ended cheese pastie and rather scrummy

My husband and I concocted some extremely good Jamaican patties last night We found some "Naga Jolokia" hot sauce to put in them. Holy fire that stuff is potent.

Oh man, where do I start? I love this time of year!
Nice homemade curry (normally balti derrivatives), roast beef and yorkies, beef stew, homemade soup (leek and tattie or carrot and coriander are my faves). The slow cooker has been used in force recently too.

Re: Comfort Foods?
I'm in the UK for a few days, so I have had fish and chips, weetabix, tetley tea and real Cadburys chocolate.
But just before y'all start feeling homesick, I should also tell you that (a) it hasn't stopped raining since i got here 4 days ago, and (b) it took 7 hours by train to travel from Southampton to Birmingham.
Wrong type of leaves, wrong rain, no staff, broken down train, timetabling error, slow train ahead, train ahead in the wrong platform, . . .
you name it I heard the lot.
My flight from O'Hare to London took about the same time as this wretched train journey. By the time I had heard all the excuses and sat in Northampton for an hour, I found myself feeling homesick for Illinois.

Steady on old boy, getting dangerously close to gloating there.....
Too late - the damage is done...
Small price to pay for decent fish and chips!

Re: Comfort Foods?
A National Rail pork pie is, I believe, about as appetizing as the old British Rail cheese sandwich. Northampton in the rain is depressing enough, no need to add gastric disorders to an already frustrating day. : )

The missus makes some good ones too...but sometimes, it's just nice to get a cheap manky one at the pub kind of thing ain't it...I'd settle for a nasty Ginsters now and again
