Childhood games

Re: Childhood games
My great aunt taught me all sorts of card games while my sisters were having piano lessons at the house next door. She also taught me to drink whisky at an age which I would now consider highly inappropriate for my own kids

Re: Childhood games
My husband is funny playing Ludo. I showed him the game, but he doesn't have a killer instinct at all. He thinks it is very bad form for someone to knock you out if you are almost close to home.
BTW, did you know Ludo is from the Latin for to play? (I love stuff like that.)

I don't think anybody has mentioned marbles yet, I didn't play with them much, but I did just read that they are one of the oldest games, 2nd century BC I believe.

Re: Childhood games
We sort of played with marbles, but not a whole lot. When my boys started in Cub Scouts I was surprised to find they could earn their Marbles Belt Loop/Pin (awards), and also at how many different games can be played with them.

Kiss chase, mostly girls chasing boys

I still remember Beverley and Rebecca chasing me down at play time, and I resisted. Slow learner I guess.

Re: Childhood games
Well let's see what games I played while growing up in Northern Ireland during The Troubles ...
... have we all shut up about that now?
Ok, most have been covered but I love a bit of nostalgia:
Conkers, cops and robbers, Subbuteo, volley league, Kerby, cricket, bike races up and down the street, football. Loads of cool stuff.

Re: Childhood games
Spirograph was brilliant. My dad was really good at them, he had a big ring binder full of ones he had done.
