I use verizon for my local calls but I use OneSuite for long distance and calling home.
It's 2.2 cents per minute to the UK.

OK, guy came from Vonage. They said between 8am and 12 noon, he came at 10 to 12, lol All is well and he set it up, I have called 3 calls to the UK, quite crackly on and off but all the voice mail and caller ID all work fine. Had him do both my phones, just had to turn the answering part off the living room one!! I am a bit nervous as this is an old building and my elec. outlet by the puter has a bar thing with6 plugs in it. My puter sounds loud now!!! Still I am sure the guy would have said if it seemed dangerous. I had 5 plugs in without the Vonage anyway.

Is it person to person? I heard about this but don't know what it is.
Well, obviously you only get the person you want but if my UK calls are free would it matter?
