Default CALLING HOME!

I need to get another phone company. I have Verizon and there are things on there I never know about like $5 per month for directory assistance, I almost never use help from directory!!:curse: They keep upping the charge for UK calls and you have to pay $4 per month to have that service.

Time Warner (I have them for TV cable and PC cable) are $45 per month and 7 cents per min for UK. I am sure it is more, just got a mobile and they said plan was $39 per month BUT when I saw the sample bill the taxes change the $39 to $50 Plus the $40 activation, plus 7 days they say will take me to first billing month so they said my first bill will be about $110:curse::curse: Anyway, back to TW, they have good service

Vonage, they seem to be lower per month and have FREE calls to the UK but they outsource and I cannot understand the woman I spoke to, every question I asked her she would tell me they had great service but did not answer my question, she keeps calling me to sign up but I am nervous about their service.

HELP Please give me your advice on what I should get, calling UK is my main worry.

I dial 10-10-9-8-7 for all UK calls. I think it's 4 cents per min. plus something like 30 cents connection charge. Means I can yak away for hours for only a few $'s. I know there's Skype etc and cheaper ways...but I can't be bothered.

I have just signed up for Comcast Digital Phone. Works fine. Combined bill for Phone, Basic Cable TV and Broadband is $99 a month right now.

For UK calls from work and my cellphone I use Net2phone (www.net2phone.com)

I just use Skype, it's like 2c a minute for calls to the UK, and the quality ain't half bad.

Better still - get your family in the UK on Skype and talk directly over the Internet; then you don't pay for anything.

Wow, I am paying about $200, I have HBO though on TV. Too late for the cell phone, I signed up for 2 years, UK is 7 cents for land lines and 40 cents per minute for mobiles. If I were to go over my minutes, 450 per month even local calls would be 45 cents per minute. I should have asked you lot about cell phones before I did it.

We've got Vonage, but it can be hit 'n miss with good connection.

Best thing we use is the Tescos phone. Some of our friends have them already and we armed my Mum up with one before we left. Dialling Tesco to Tesco is free, and any other number is 2p per minute, so it's very cheap.

I have a mic so I can chat on MSN and SKYPE messenger but none of my old aunts are on the net. My mother is but not on messenger.

So who bills you and how? Sorry, I don't want to sound stupid but I have never heard of this and how do they know where to bill you if you don't sign up?

I was wondering about Vonage service as they outsource. Time Warner has New Yorkers and they come out, lol

The charges appear on your normal phone bill. I like it because I don't have to sign up and commit to anything. Google...they have a website.
