Fitba News :

Strachan to quit Saints
Southampton boss Gordon Strachan will leave in the summer to have hip surgery.

This is a change of tact from the usual backingfromthechairman then departsbymutualconsent.
(McAlister left Coventy to look after his sick missus and now Strach for a hip operation.)
Betting is on Mark Hughes to take over.
-------
Handbags at 10 paces
Arsenal's Jens Lehmann and Southampton's Kevin Phillips have been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.

Lehmann was charged for throwing the ball at the back of Phillips' head, and Phillips for appearing to stand on the German goalkeeper's foot.

A fair bit of blasting going on:
Kewell blasts O'Leary
Robinson blasts Leeds

Scotia Fitba:
Something which will please Scotch (who has not been seen here for a while because he is still raising money for the Save The Dee's fund by washing car windows wearing nothing but a kilt. On his head.*) =>
Di Stefano's future in doubt
BBC Scotland understands prospective Dundee director Giovanni di Stefano has been asked to consider his position with the club.
It is understood other directors view his continued association with the club as damaging to their future prospects.
Some potential investors from the local business community have expressed their unhappiness at his ongoing involvement.

*This may not be true

Something to please Tony (who has been seen on here recently) =>
"Save Tynecastle" plans revealed
Hearts supporter and business strategist Peter McGrail has outlined plans that he insists show there is no need for the club to leave Tynecastle.
McGrail, whose shareholder brother Robert has offered to buy Tynecastle, says the stadium can be rebuilt as a multi-sport arena.
McGrail has also suggested changes in the ownership of the club, with fans gaining a controlling interest.
Hearts plan to sell Tynecastle, with Murrayfield their most likely new home.
That has met with widespread opposition among supporters, but chief executive Chris Robinson insists the move is necessary because Tynecastle does not comply with new Uefa standards.
Hearts currently have debts in the region of £17m and the sale of Tynecastle would help alleviate those.

When pigs fly:
Spurs eye (Italy Manager) Trapattoni
The plan is to grab him after EURO 2004 and have Mark Hughes as an assistant eventually to take over.

Reminder whilst we are here (apart from viewers in Scotland):
EURO 2004 Tournament - 155 days away !
(155 from Jan 9th - I'll have to do a countdown on the forums.)

And that's another thing - have to find an Excel Euro 2004 wallchart.

The closest thing I can find to online Premiership highlights is on this website. Looks like it's one for the future though, they don't appear to allow international subscriptions. Indications are that this will change this year.
