I tell a lie, my MIL's Christmas present was from Wal-Mart!

She wanted one of those FoodSaver things.

I got her a Tuppaware box instead.

Ahhh, WalMart....the great equalizer. thanks to them, now even the poorest among us can have decent clothes, color tv, george foreman grills, Brinkman gas BBQ's, and any other gadget formerly reserved for the middle class-wealthy among us.

Amazing the bashing they get in the press, considering all the good they have done.

They do...it's called the WalMart Visa.

If they did, they certainly could do them more fairly than the current system...20% intrest per month I understand.

No, they do pure capitalist competiton... very fair for the consumer, but disliked by those small merchants who have grown used to charging 100% over list price to make up for their lack of volume.

I was chatting to a neighbour who used to do contract work for Wally World in looking for new places to set up shop. The way they go about forcing out the mom and pop stores (allegedly) is pretty poor.

So the lawsuit brought by female employees is all about pure capitalist competition?

And all those low paid employees are a great help to Wal-Mart when all they can afford is Wal-Mart merchandise.

As the largest employer in the US, it would be surprising to me if they (like GM, Ford, DCX, Sears or whoever) did not have lawsuits of that type. When Ford is sued ny some woman with a cob up her ass for her boss for sexual harassment or discrimination, does it make the 6pm news?

Ditto the (One store as I recall) illegal Romanian immigrant contract employees cleaning at night... they were not even walMart employees, but sure as hell...6pm news lead story.

As to forcing out the mom and pop buisiness, I suppose the same can be said for Kroger, Publix, Win Dixie or which ever grocery chain... and KMart and Sears.
