It's not unfair at all. Tolos specifically said "If I was ever on board a plane, and saw some muslim looking guy in the middle of something suspicious..." My question is, what makes someone "Muslim-looking"?

If the person's religion is irrelevant then why even mention the "Muslim-looking" part? Why not just say, "If I was ever on board a plane, and saw someone in the middle of something suspicious..."? I just don't know how someone can look at another person and automatically know what faith they believe in.

Your still fudging it he said If I was ever on board a plane, and saw some muslim looking guy in the middle of something suspicious (ie a battery and some wires) perhaps he assumed a bomber or terrorist may be muslim
because at this current moment in history..thay all seem to be just that ...
Perhaps you would have preferred he said Saudi or Pakistani ....

I have seen no report of killer methodist's roaming the skyways... as yet ..

I realize that he gave the example of batteries/wires and by that he meant "suspicious" in a "terrorist" sort of way. I just wasn't clear how he could look at someone and know they were Muslim. Perhaps the same way some people "know" another person is gay just by looking that them...

If there was a gaydar for terrorists, it would certainly sort the sheep from the goats. I don't know what we should do with terrorists in denial though, who were basically born terrorist but feel uncomfortable in a society where it's not an acceptable lifestyle. Maybe give them their own film festival or something.

I would have thought it goes to strengthen the relationship between the two nations - we're all in this together type of thing.

Look, in response to the token "racist" post that was fired my way, I have nothing against muslims. But calling me a bigot for being a little suspicious of middle eastern "muslim" looking men is just naive. Right now, in 2006 with our current political climate, it's just common sense. I'm not tarring every muslim/M.eastern person with the terrorist brush, but it's logical to say that we need to be suspicious of that type of characteristic right now.

Let's call a spade a spade here - it's not Chinese people who are crashing planes into buildings and blowing up trains is it?

I'm seeing a slight pattern here. You can look down your nose at me all you want. Fact is, when I get on a plane these days, I feel anxious when I see an eastern looking bloke with black hair or a beard. Racist? Hater? No. I know it's wrong to think this way....but I can't help myself.

Odd thing though ... the photos you posted are remarkably UN-beardy. I know where you're coming from, and am not criticising the sentiment. It just wasn't a very good illustration.
