Hope you both get the email this week, with the Memorial day holiday out the way it should be on track.

Hi Flyingturtle I have moved your entry to the Administrative Processing sheet while we await your final feedback as to the "annotation" on your Visa vignette. Do keep us posted.

Still waiting on my passport and DS-160 status is still Refused. I assume that this status will be changed before I get notification that the passport is back with the courier - does anyone know if that is that case?

I was hopeful, given the 6 to 9 months timeframes at the time, that 12 months between interview and travel date would be ok but given Orland0 is approaching 11 months and the embassy is holding passports for over 1 month, I'm seriously considering biting the bullet to save my sanity and moving the holiday.

I applied for a Visa on 16th August 2024 and got told I was not able to have a Visa - however they said they would support a Visa of Ineligibility.

The same day, minutes after the appointment I got a call to return as they forgot to give me form - which stated I needed to have a medical (which costed a small fortune) but they said if I do this now it will be quicker as it will be required to progress further.

So I booked the medical on the 4th September 2024, and the doctor was really talkative and she said she couldn’t see anything medically for them not to issue one. The results got couriered to the embassy on 9th September 2024.

My application just states ‘Appointment’ - I know I am over the 9 month mark….. and it’s sitting in limbo.

Is this the same for everyone else? I haven’t seen many people have to have the medical. My conviction wasn’t linked to drugs or alcohol, but I do have some mental health conditions which is why I assume I needed the medical. But just wondering on dates and trying to figure out when a decision might be received?
Hi Greg,

I am in a similar situation to you, I had my visa app on 6th September and medical on 16th September.. my status is also sat at 'appointment'.

Can I ask how you found out when the results of your medical were couriered to the embassy? Also, did you receive the results of your medical?

Hey, i think the one month passport holding is a bit of an outlier, and possibly the result of changing from DX to Mailboxes etc. I guess all eyes are on what happens this week with emails, but my initial thoughts of getting the email the second week of July have now passed to August, which is tight for September getaway (my alternate date). I've changed and cancelled my holiday twice, and just given up at the moment. Depending who you booked with it may well be an idea to look into their policies.

As a side note, YT recommended a video of an Australian lady going to Hawaii (to meet her American serviceman husband) and being deported with no official reason why. Had hoped that things would calm down a bit with lower tourist numbers etc.

Note that as of today, Trump has halted ALL student visa processing by embassies worldwide until they implement new social media screening.

Ours is 365 days exactly from the appointment which probably would have been OK but January changed everything and I just can't see now how we'd ever get it in time plus getting the passport back. Especially when you and Orland0 haven't had your emails yet. Absolute nightmare and doesn't help you can't ask what the most accurate timeframes currently are as the embassy is still saying 9 months.

I just do not understand why they ask for your passport for visa issuance and then keep it for so long. Some of us have regular travel plans. We may need the passport. They should ask for it when the wait is around a week not a month.
