I have all the skills, a job lined up, and every intention of staying in Oz but weight seems to be an issue, even though I walk 6 miles a day with the dog and am not unhealthy..always been sporty and biggish build anyway.
That is the only reason I am doing it. used to be a personal trainer so know how to lose weight gradually..which I will when I have kick started it with this...already my bad food cravings are disappearing and had no alcohol for 3 weeks!

The only reason I ask is because a friend of mine was on one of these diets and she was advised not to have a blood tests because it does something wierd to the blood, not sure what though.

Just if it came back in your tests though dont know if it would cause a problem.

Thanks for that kaye..I will phone the pharmacist and find out.

Aaaaaah, I really like you and havn't even met you yet! It's amazing what those leathers can hold in!! That's the thing, I don't look huge but my BMI is over 30...really pisses me off. I used to do a lot of weight training so have remained quite solid rather than completely flabby..they , of course don't take this into account. I think I am just going to go and get the meds done as it is doing my head in now! I am over the B.M.I but have no other med conditions apart from the high B>P, under control with meds, and this is falling as I lose weight.
Think I will do a self statement as well as the one I have from my G.P.
Flattery will get you free beer!

Bloody BMI rubbish. Just another excuse for the medical industry to categorize people and sell them crap because they are outside a certain zone. Have you noticed how every year they keep lowering the reference points for glucose and cholesterol? Cholesterol of 4.1, better take these tablets to keep it down...hang on, last year the reference point was 5.5, why last year was I fit and healthy and this year, because YOU moved the upper reference value, I need to take tablets to lower my cholesterol.?!!!! (OK it's not quite that bad but you get my meaning.)

Too right mate

BMI evolved in the 50`s I think, the chamge in body mass to now averagely is not comparable when I was at school ( if I can remember ) we had acouple of kids in the year above 6 foot we thought they ere giants now its more of a standard, with changes in body size evolving BMI is bull s@@@t

Im still a lard arse though

I agree with you..I work in the health field so know where you are coming from. I am so worried about all this, even though I am doing my best to get fit, lose weight, lower blood pressure etc. I have a job in Oz, have no intention of sponging off the government and will be paying for private health insurance anyway (as earn over the threshold) ...in other words. i will be paying my way. i will also be taking up the outdoor sports I love again, such as rowing (if the crocs don't get me), mountain biking and hiking. i will therefore be getting a lot fitter!!
the meds are booked so if they want me they do, if not..canada here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:curse::c urse::curse::curse::curse::curse:

I don't really want to go to canada..certainly won't be after seeing that!! I am only interested in oz and if that goes tits up then will buy a business here down South..but just don't want to be in this country full stop!!
Who would wait 5 years..not me. I think if you make a decision for a big change it has to be done with great thought but not over that long!
