I will post some more pics soon, want to get some better ones of our resident wallabys.
We've been thinking about White Rock, much as I love the location of our present home it's temporary and eventually we need to buy something of our own, the costs of getting here, accepting a low offer on our house and house prices rising here means the type of home we thought we could afford is getting beyond reach :(
I think the location of white rock, being close to town may see prices rise as people are priced out of other more desirable suburbs....if I had cash now I would consider getting an investment property there but it's not somewhere I want to live.
Forest Gardens and Mount Sheriden are nearby and worth considering, also Bentley Park.

Whitfield is a popular place, I wouldn't mind living there. Cairns State High has a pretty tight catchment area I went in there for a look but being at Trinity Beach it was a no go. The kids are starting at Redlynch State College on Monday (they don't have a catchment area at all at the moment).

Re: First weeks in Cairns

Had a look at the catchment map and it lists whitfield kids are keen to go to CSH for the football facilities and coaching have to give in on something to get them to come , happily.

Ideally want to live in Trinity Beach area but as you say catchment is quite tight.

What did you think of CSH when you had a look does it seem a good school not just acedemically but overall. I dont want a school where its exam results at all cost I want an all round education for the lads do you think from what you saw it offered that.

Hope you dont me asking sometimes I feel as if we are interigating those that are already there.

Good luck for Monday everyone.

Thanks

Considered with Bayview Heights Hill as being the best ($$) and desirable suburbs with Edge Hill close behind.

We didnt have any luck with the shs the head wanted us to send sophie to the bentley park college said it was an improving school. Im not risking it with her so decided on st marys college just hope its ok my inlaws visited it and said it had a good feel about it, we have to be interviewed on arrival though to see if we are suitable. (Not Catholics). I didnt fancy being any further out than bentley park as it would be longer to get to the hospital for work. Any views on the other estates. south side

Bayview Heights or Forest Gardens would be the pick.

On our research trip to Cairns in July we were told by the realestate agent that Whiterock is an area to avoid. However as someone has already mentioned they said that Mount Sheridan and Bentley Park are nice areas that are in that vicinity

Forest Gardens is across the main road from White Rock but it's chalk and cheese.

It is now possible to travel the back roads of FG right through Mount Sheridan and Bentley Park to arrive at Edmonton.
