Hi
Stating the obvious, rental costs per week vary as to what type of hse you want. Our two rentals were in a prime area and huge with 4 bedrooms, 2 bath, two living areas and pool, so we did pay a high rate per week but, there are so many diff typs of houses for rent and at much cheaper rates.

3 bed are generally a lot cheaper per week especially without a pool and in our experience, more readily available than 4 bed if renting or buying.

Youngy is right regarding rental cost for the sort of house he wishes to rent, but he is used to the best :D

So, dont panic quite yet - you will have food on the table!

Exciting day all round then Karen! Just think about tomorrow when you will be hugging your hubby and children after all these months! Only one more day and the long wait is over.

Have fun with your move - hope all goes well.

Take care

Re: First weeks in Cairns

:DI didn't know wether to start a new thread for this or not but this one feels "famliar"!

Well...after much trials & tribulations.....we got here! yes...this actually is WBZ's OH in Aus!

We still had our ups & downs even in the last few days,as well as the accomodation "nightmares" you have already read on this thread..and thanks to all here who helped my DW!)...
.let me see..
.waited ages for the shippers to come & collect....turns out they had a puncture on thier way to us!.....
hired an estate car to ferry me,the kids, & all our luggage arround "rellie visiting" for the last few days, when I went to pick it up...."sorry sir, we couldn't get you an estate ....heres a free upgrade!"....and she went on to point out this ENOUMOUS Nissan Pathfinder...I've seen smaller front line battle tanks! It was quite nice to drive, but very "nervemaking" arround the Yeovil backstreets, with cars parked either side, and me with a £500 excess on the insurance!:D:D

Well we finally finished all the visiting.....got to the airport (without troubling the £500 excess!)......
got on the plane....
(exciting!)......
"ding dong!" ...
" This is your captain speaking....I'm sorry but we will be delayed for some time...we have to find & unload some baggage that has been checked in & put on the plane but the passengers havent arrived to fly!"....
well about 45 mins later we were finally...actually...on our way!

Well...to cut a long story short after 7 days of flying...(actually 19 hours in the air & about 6 @ Hong Kong airport!...it just felt longer!) we got here!

Karen picked us up at the airport.....and she got her mate to come with her to pick up our lggage!:D

The house at Trinity Beach is excellent!.....the kids have spent nearly 50 % of thier (admittedly so far, short) time in Australia, in the water....we're all "adjusting" our body clocks, though we seem to have become "natural" Queenslanders......up at half 5 in the morning!......Knackered by 8 at night!

Cairns is fantastic....why would anyone want to live anywhere else!?

All in all, this Australia place dont seem so bad.....I think we might stay.....
