WTF in America Part 2

Imo a sensible caring person would have missed the flight and taken the dog home.
Some people just shouldn't have animals. Or children if it comes to that.

I thought the only way to carry a dog on an international flight was in the cargo hold, but from what I'm reading now, some airlines allow small dogs to be carried in a soft-sided container under the seat in the main cabin. But this is tightly controlled, requires prior approval, an approved container, possibly a fee, and there are food requirements, etc (on a 12-hour international flight, how do you handle 'bathroom breaks')? Personally I'm allergic to dogs and would have to be re-located if I found myself sitting near a dog for that long.
I'm seeing more and more 'entitled' dog owners bringing their dogs into grocery stores and restaurants. In California, the law prohibits dogs in any food facility (so grocery stores and restaurants are out, except for 'patios'). There's an exception for 'service animals' (eg, 'seeing eye dogs'), but from what I've read people are now simply claiming their dog is an 'emotional support' animal, and you can't refuse such an animal. There's some indication that you need a letter from a doctor saying you need an 'emotional support animal' for rental housing purposes, but I don't think a grocery store or restaurant can demand to see such a letter.

Surely there's a whole bunch of things to do in advance of taking a dog on an international flight (more than just a rabies shot)?

Only in America. I’m usually a bit cynical about these claims, but this is a true example of American exceptionalism

Our daughter can eat prodigious quantities of food, now she’s 42 years old and she hasn’t changed
But, I have to add, we drive past one on the highway when we drive to Boston - and every time I think .. why is that place called the Chateau??

You mean .. French name on Italian restaurant? That place is a chain in the Boston area. It’s really good, in a sort of 1950s family dining sort of way. Very dated, tacky decor. We used to go to the original one, in Waltham, back in the early 90s when the children were little. I would have the veal parmigiana I think

Is it Italian or Eyetalian? It might matter.
It's an interesting question though. For example, would you expect a restaurant called Schloss Gruber to provide Vietnamese cuisine?
