Yes, first I read the post, then had to remember what page it was on so I could go back to it ...
It's very common among the US military communities and Americans who travel and live overseas. The community I live in is extremely international in demographic. Family members are either overseas or stateside. We use that phrase all the time. Good try at being clever though! (Why is it you don't know that Americans use these terms? Alarming....)

Thanks for that. Good to know I am making the right choice.

You would think that with all the pig shit around the bacon would be better.

Still, one cant have everything I suppose - the natural grace and charm of our hosts is almost as good as proper bacon.

Are you in a gun-wallah community? Thank you for your service.

Nothing else to add here, but I will discuss and argue with you rationally by PM - meanwhile, please enjoy the superb British sense-of-humour and self-depreciation shown by others on this forum. It's kept me in stitches for the last couple of days; just what we need as we go through yet another difficult transition.
No need to PM. If you get that you don't fit in, in the US and decide to go back to the UK-great! Not everyone does fit in here. Case in point: during the superbowl this year one friend from the UK posted in social media play by play stats on the home team and cheered them on. Another friend from the UK posted how Rugby is better than football. I'll let you guess which one is a hugely successful leader in the community and which one has not quite got the point yet....

No you daft pig I said my name ellegiselle is not in any social media as one of your British troll hunters who wrote me 3 pages of nonsense is now stalking some poor woman on FB who is not me. You really are a daft lot.

I think I saw it too. It's a contest between different ad agencies with a short concert in the middle. Not bad.

Its not funny is it. people don't take nutrition seriously enough. Again we have something we agree on. I think we would get on really well. We should meet up.

You could have a prayer supper bowl. With one of those 800 number lines to call in.

Time to put this thread to bed. I came in here to blow off steam-for those Einsteins among you who think I must be a troll because -you're so incredibly smart, you are possibly the biggest idiots in the bunch. Why would I come on a forum to make these statements? Because I work with a lot of British people in a very PC job and I would never say these things in any other format. Americans are under a lot of pressure to remain politically correct with race, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc etc. What we say about issues like this we say behind closed doors. This seems to be one of the biggest parting factors between Americans who are educated and savvy and stateside Brits. You function as though you just moved from London 20 miles outside and you give such little thought and respect to the people around you. You treat all of us like we're gun toting bible thumpers from Kentucky. The truth of the matter is-you're a bunch of *****. Steam has now been blown off I will go back to being charming and welcoming and acting like I don't notice you constantly making fun of our national holidays and sporting events. P.S. The Queen looks like a cross dressing man and your rugby players are all mentally retarded. Nice talking to ya!
