When in Rome...

I am a bit reminded of my time in your London, by this thread. On a couple of occasions in a pub, while having a quiet pint at the bar, I'd over hear a couple of locals having a go at Scousers. I'd turn to them and say in my best Scouse accent "bunch of c%&T's them scousers aren't they?", now my aim was to be light hearted and jovial but on each occasion it was greeted with complete silence and an end to their conversation.
Not 100% sure of the connection to this thread, but its there some where.

Yes but they communicate like Brits: " Can I see your bacon?"....to Grocer who responds ..."Um Yeah-that's our bacon" pointing in case to which Brit responds ".....thank you"...."erm" ...."uh"..... When if he/she JUST said "can you give me a cut with more meat and less fat in a 2 inch by 6 inch slice??? Like this-(holding up iPhone pic)" The butcher would reply... "Sure! When do you want it by?" Done and done.

elle - it seems like you focus too much on the negatives. I agreed with your sentiment but you can't hold onto things like this. It will impede your judgment of new people you meet. Seems you have your mind made up to the point where you ignore one person who agreed with you and then decide to feed off the negatives.

We're surely not talking talking rules to be inducted love-we're talking social rules of acceptance, and let's not be coy, this is not the Brits strong point.

You are effing rude at every turn-thus the subject of this thread. Disguise it with a smile, a grunt, a cup of tea or a rant on a forum-you are the rudest lot I've met....at least Mexicans know they are aspiring to something to become American. You aspire- all the while tut tutting us with your nose up since you once be-headed those in our lot...(even though it was at least 500 years ago and you never seem to mention that)
