My neighbour loves the stuff, but then she gags when I make myself a 'chip butty' no accounting for taste!

Never had a chip butty. It does look good, but I'll take one w/out the butter. I can't stand butter.

No Stop and Shops in NC as far as I know. Certainly none in the Triangle.

'Fraid I'd have to have a better reason to drive to Southern Pines. Ain't nothing there really. The place is probably run by ex-Mainers.

Though Moxie rocks
Wiki tells us why you drink Moxie:

"Moxie was said to cure ailments ranging from softening of the brain to “loss of manhood.” In 1884, it was sold in carbonated form and merchandised as an invigorating drink, which claimed to endow the drinker with “spunk”"

I love root beer, when I was back in England I was chuffed when I found Waitrose sold it. It was a quid for a tiny bottle but well worth it.

Mrs. IP says it tases like liniment or medicine...ditto for Dr. Pepper. Having always liked both, I must say she is not wrong, there is that taste of medicine, but it ain't bad...the 3-4 times a year I drink it.

LOL, didn't realise it was still around, haven't been 'home' for about 4 years now, i'm hoping to get back for a visit next year, maybe I will see if I can find any and take a trip down memory 'taste', I tend to find though, that things I remember as a kid, never taste the same when I try them as an adult. I used to love 'parma violets' growing up, but now I think they taste like root beer!! lol
