Vegetables will never win out over meat. Even with the sprouts, what makes them so good is the bacon I put on before roasting them
Well, in fairness, it's their celebration, they can eat what they want.
As long as I get a turkey drumstick, I don't GAF what everyone else does.

Re: thanksgiving dinner...
Finally got all my kids to love Brussels sprouts by chopping them up, tossing in olive oil, coating with parmesan cheese (sometimes with the added bonus of jalapeño bacon) and then roasting them for 10 mins at 400f. They woof them down now.
The weird thing about them not liking Brussel sprouts was that their childminder used give them uncooked sprouts and they would eat them like candy. Apparently if they are fresh, they are quite sweet.

What is wrong with you people...what about the roasties? Don't tell me you've gone all American and only have mash.
Roast potatoes, followed by turkey...then veggies.

I agree with this, with the added condition that nobody tries to give me any pumpkin pie!

Drunken, brined turkey (loads of booze)
Roasted potatoes
Mashed garlic spuds for kids (clearly can't be mine as they don't like roasted)
Orange glazed, roasted carrots
Stuffing - usually cooked into balls but this time, going to try it in the waffle iron, all about the crunchy bits anyway
Peas
Cornbread
Cranberry jelly out of the can for the heathens
Cranberry and orange boozy chutney
Gravy
A pumpkin pie and a apple pie and possibly a pecan pie, they're all going to be small ones though.
Which reminds me, got to go put the pumpkin in the oven, totally forgot to roast it.

love roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding which we have on Christmas day plus the chestnut stuffing but it difficult to find decent potatoes here in central Texas. Your choice is red or white. Miss all the choices we had in the UK. Hard to believe the good old tattie came from the US originally. Have finally found a way of roasting them but before that they never crisped up and were too mushy. I like my roast potatoes to crunch as they are split open to the soft inner bit.

Plus, mashed potatoes with great heaping dollops of butter are the dog's bollocks anyway.
I don't really mind pumpkin pie, but apple is obviously better.

Personally I hate roast potatoes but can make them perfectly

As SoS says nothing beats a pile of well seasoned creamy buttery mash unless you use half celeriac and half spuds.

Re: thanksgiving dinner...
My first Thanksgiving in the good ole USofA will consist of, mooching off friends!
We will be taking to the event, Pigs in Blankets, Cheese plate (non US), Cherry Pie, some green stuff OH is making, Thorntons chokkys (I had to buy another box as I are the first lot)
As the token Brit I am assigned the Pilgrim Father role! I get to wear the flowerpot hat and doily round my neck
I will enter the spirit of the day by eating too much, drinking too much and falling asleep in front of the 'game'
Hmmm just like Christmas
