I watch Orange County, New Jersey, New York, and Beverly Hills.

Puhleese! I only ever manage two minutes of those shows. They are so odd and fake, and make me feel very under made up!

It's totally mindless, but I like watching women who live a completely different lifestyle than I do.

Mob Wives are pretty scary. The one I have watched the most are the RHWs of Atlanta.

Bottom line- money can't buy class. :D

Veep got a pasting in today's Guardian.

We were watching Whitechapel and they had impromptu drinks at work, my husband said, "That's better than our Christmas party!"

I bailed out of that show months ago.

I must say the British women in the shows are absolutely guastly. There was a Brit in RHODC and a Brit in one of the other shows I bailed out of. Both of them were so pretentious. One of them told us that all British children want to be like American children.

I'm always amazed at how au courant the British press is on all the American shows. Haven't they got their own rubbish to comment upon?

It does have quite a British connection, and will be on Sky (Atlantic).

Primula? Have you been paying attention? Its more or less an American remake of The Thick Of It/In The Loop. With the same writer.

I've never seen The Thick of It/In the Loop. I'm fairly sure that earlier in the thread I said I couldn't find these shows anywhere to watch them. I think I also said that I had never heard of the Anglo-Italian director, but that I was interested, having read a recent article about him. I do not subscribe to BBC America or such like.

Pay attention!

Actually he's Scottish, born in Glasgow.

Of course he is, but the way The NY Times wrote the story, there was a lot of emphasis on his Italian roots. Anglo-Italian is probably an incorrect way to describe him though. Interesting guy, according to the article.

Iannucci's work is usually hard-hitting satire. Veep just feels so toothless.

It was followed by a trailer for The Newsroom, which looks far more interesting.

Did anyone see The Hour? I have it at home on DVD, but haven't gotten to it yet. Looks fairly good.

After watching Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries, there was a snip about "The Slap", which isn't new, it was a 8 part show out last year, also based on a book.

Checked it out and it's great.

Has the same bird in the Mysteries show and a couple of folks from Home and Away, including that Melissa George.

It's basically centering about "the incident" of a bloke slapping a kid at a party. Basically the kid has been a shit, wrecking the garden, breaking other kids toys, going mental with a bat and swinging it at other kids. The parents don't do anything about it, nor say anything to the kid and one other parent snaps and slaps the kid after getting kicked.

Slew of people are either agreeing with or against the slap and the difference in family dynamics from Greek immigrant and blended families v natural Oz families.

So far, after the start, it's been good and pretty intense start, well worth catching if you see the episodes floating around :)

Thanks, I'll get it downloaded tonight.

I downloaded the Hour last week so when I get back to the States the wife and I will give it a watch and let you know what we thought.

Got that much stuff in the last 2 weeks that I've gone over my usage allowance already and I've another 2 weeks to go.
