Looks like the same crap the Italians mistake for fruit cake. I'd trade a whole tractor-trailer load of that stuff for a single, proper British Christmas cake-style fruit cake.

That 'crap the Italians mistake for fruit cake' (Panettone) is infinitely better than British christmas cake! Light and fluffy ... I'm going to buy one tomorrow ...

You leave British Christmas cake alone!

Actually, it sounds like you do exactly that.

So that's ok then.

Carry on the good work. ;)

On a more Stolleny front... the 'ol Stollen Retention program has failed. I may have to recalibrate or something.

Ah, that's the junk they always over buy, and end up selling cheap, here in the Argentinian bakeries.

The best fruit cake is always availabe from your local British WI jumble sale for 50p. Well the price might have changed by now.

You noticed as you posted there that the more people dislike these things, the better for you.

Just leave all the Sarah Lee Gateau for me . Also cheesecake and pavlova. But **** raisins/currants/sultanas, keep them away from my cakes.

Isn't that just vanilla icecream with raspberry sauce?

It is, but it tastes so much better when someone else has put the sauce in for you already. Don't spoil my fun or I'll gozz in all the rum n raisin.

2 stollen cakes eaten by kids in 24 hours.

I prepared to get a bit cross but then son said "der stollen ist gestollen..." (gestohlen)...which for some reason cracked me up.

Need to buy bigger ones and lock them up so that they won't get stollen.
