Add a teaspoon of glycerin to the royal icing, and it won't become too hard. I usually make a Christmas cake most years, but not this year. I'm partial to (good)Christmas cake, like Nutek is to Stollen.

Oddly enough I prefer my fruit cake not to taste only of booze. A bit added in is OK, but I'd rather eat my cake and drink my booze not consume them as a combined item.

Thanks to eagle eye Mrs. N. whilst grocery shopping, I am able to confirm an upward blip on the Nutek Stollen graph. However, I am already noticing a worrying downward trend.

Check your weight vs the weight of stollen in your house. The law of conservation of matter applies here.

This is last year's, I believe, but the 2016 Dresden Stollen was just on the news. It weighs 2800 kg.

Fortunately, I am the only household member who likes the stuff.

It's kind to care though. :p

You either buy bad Stollen or you have a strange family.

I've just made GF stollen for the first time. Remarkably easy once I had located the various ingredients.

half of it disappeared before it got cold. Good job I made 2 and I've hidden the other one.

Of the three I made two have been consigned to the chest freezer, the other seemed to evaporate. I should check on the frozen stock when I get home, they will need taste testing soon too.

Yes I did put marzipan in ours, had to be quick before #2qboy and steveq ate it! I used this recipe: Christmas Stollen Recipe | King Arthur Flour It makes 3 , you could always do one or two without marzipan, and put extra in the one with it

that's funny, I used the king arthur GF recipe! Mine only made 2 though  They turned out rather well so I think I might make a few more to give as presents to a couple of friends who don't eat gluten
