Quitting with other smokers around is probably the hardest part of stopping. When I started in the boatyard nearly everyone smoked, over the course of twenty years there was just a couple of holdouts, me included, most of us would have been much quicker quitting if it hadn't been so easy to ponce rollups from each other when we were stopping for cuppas or shooting the breeze.Eventually even the dyed in the wool old Dutchman from the Rotterdam shipyards quit, the only drawback being that, as a group, we're sharing what must be 300kgs more fat between us now!

She has moved from 100's to the regular length and gone to ultra-lights, which I consider to an improvement. She also does not appear to be smoking as much as before, but I am not sure how much that is a function of wanting to quit or the fact that it's down at 32 degrees this weekend here in GA

Congratulations! I quit when I moved to America in 2015 and went cold turkey. It was rough but only way it worked for me. It was a weird time to quit as I moved from London to Virginia, where packets are about a 1/3 of the price!

Surprised me too. The only real issue I had was feeling a bit sick on the second day. It was really more about habit breaking for me. I just ate a lot of chocolate instead

Isn't it nice how you can actually taste things again now though? Also, think of all the money you'll save.

Most people start smoking again within 3 months, so there's a good goal to set. I have to go visit an old friend I haven't seen in awhile - he's had 3 surgeries for throat cancer and still smokes. Not looking forward to it as he sounds like a wreck.

Yeah that isn't going to happen - I'm saving too much money! With my wife still smoking, I would have thought that I would have picked it up again already if I was going too. She is seeing the MD for her annual in January, and is going to ask about Chantix... so hopefully that will work out.

I've been lazy about it. I was reading Alan Carr's Easy Way to stop smoking but stopped about half-way through. I need to pick it up again as it was definitely making me think about the shit I'm putting into my body more and more.

You created an account because of burning desire to mention ozone generators?

Where's your introduction?
What's your immigration story?

Could be a long time lurker and finally had a reason to post a reply.

Where's your introduction?
New members to BE are not required to post an introduction. If they wish, they can do so at the Welcome Inn. They do not have to do it anywhere else.

What's your immigration story?
Why is it any of your business? Perhaps he doesn't have one. I don't. Many other Americans on here helping people don't have an immigration story.

Being rude to a newbie is uncalled for. Perhaps it is time for you to read the Forum Rules.

I don't agree that I was rude.
Questioning yes, but I said nothing rude.
He asked why he seemed like a spammer.
I provided some indications that's all..

(In addition he's been flagged as spam.)

The guy was an obvious spammer and has quite rightly been booted, so let's not lose any sleep over whether anyone was rude to him (imo nobody has been rude and the responses he got were fair).

If you think a new member is a spammer, please hit the report post button rather than calling them out on the forum. I realise it wasn’t the case this time, but sometimes new members have been called out when they are not spamming and it’s put them off BE.
