Re: Planespotting
I don't think I did imply they were unsafe, I gave my personal opinion that I wouldn't fly on an aircraft flagged from a particular region.
As is my right. |
Re: Planespotting
I've decided that PR103 is the old crumblies flight. Last night 53 wheelchairs were requested for that flight - and LAX struggled to provide them (understandably!) - for a 370-seat B777-300ER. Some people were still waiting at the check-in desk for their wheels 20 minutes before international departure - the flight left 20 minutes late as well, possibly or not related to that.

Must have been a Tour Group onboard - That's a high number of wheelchairs for any flight.
This flight used to be a B747 and refueled in Guam westbound only. Now it's a B777 and can usually fly non-stop - but does sometimes refuel en-route depending on weather and loadings. |

Air Canada plane left the runway on landing at Halifax, Nova Scotia early Sunday morning, flight originated in Toronto. (was still Saturday in most of North America at the time.)
No major injuries reported, weather appears to have been less then ideal at the time. Air Canada flight leaves runway in Halifax, no major injuries - Nova Scotia - CBC News |

Thankfully nobody was killed or seriously injured (life-threatening), but that is one sloppily written article. It's disjointed and unclear about several points, and is filled with quotes that have little or no relevance to the crash.
The pilot, presumably. Maybe CBC is doing it on purpose to prove they need more money...lol (Govt keeps cutting their budget back.) |

American Airlines and US Airways receive single operating certificate, and with that the Cactus call sign is retired. Last Cactus flight was LAX-CLT # 696 with a former America West flight crew.
Goodbye, ‘Cactus.’ American and US Airways receive FAA single operating certificate | The Star Telegram The Star Telegram For those who don't know, cactus was the call sign of America West Airlines (whom I worked for) which merged with US Airways in 2005, and as they were keeping the US Airways name to keep a small part of America West the new company continued with Cactus as the call sign, now with the merger of US Airways and American and now with a single operating certificate, they have kept the American call sign. While I left America West before they merged, during my airline career, I also worked with US Airways (twice actually) and American Airlines, and never would have though all 3 would end up as the same company through mergers. |
