It'd be like a Top Gear challenge in real life. I can only presume he'd be Hammond.

Isn't "being Hammond" pretty much incompatible with "being fine"?

TV advert for the Salvation Army. Story about a girl who buys a new coat, then meets a poor homeless without one. Does she give the new coat to the girl? No. Does she give her old coat to the girl? No. She returns the new coat and gives the money to the Salvation Army because eventually they might give that homeless girl a coat.

My four-year-old niece pointed out how dumb this was. I'm betting that someone at the ad agency just wanted to push how stupid you have to be to give money to the Salvation Army.

When family treats another member of family like 2nd class citizens for no reason other then that is what they do...Pisses me off.

Steve Hughes on homeless people

Wow; I had to really turn up the volume to catch all he said, and eventually turned on closed captions. He may be a good comedian but he's not the best in terms of clarity! Some of his phrases were easy, but he has bouts of racing through his words.

Blackcurrants were banned in the USA for years, but are now allowed again.

For a moment there I thought WTF, either this is some racial joke that I don't understand or some other kind of nuttiness courtesy of the NAACP but no you were right. I am now Wiki enlightened, figures that big business had a hand in the banning of currants!

To clarify, only the growing was banned due to potential disease spreading from a fungus on the bark; not the distribution or sale of the fruit. I've been happily buying blackcurrants at my local stores for 20 years. Now that I've read up on it, I do recall many of them are from Canada. I have a big (Costco size) box of them in the fridge right now; just looked at the label and they are from Peru! Who would have known ...

They are awesome fruits!

I think all of that family are still banned in New York, including gooseberries. We have wild gooseberries popping up everywhere in our yard, very tasty they are too. I assume it's only an offence if you cultivate them, rather than benignly allow them to grow wild!

Ah just looked it up - apparently NYS repealed the ban on gooseberries in 2003!

A very large amount of fruit eaten in the US comes from Chile and Peru.

Grapes are a well known example, but many other fruits are cultivated in Peru including blueberries, citrus fruits, olives, pineapples, guavas, bananas, apples, and pears.

The range of fruits from Chile is less - notably grapes, apples, pears, and peaches, but I believe the quantities imported into the US are greater than from Peru.

When you get drugs that say to take two pills and then at the end of the bottle, there's one left.
