You make my day with some of your comments.

I think of you as a mixture of Alf Garnet, Victor Meldrew and Father Jack...a great combination

Something of a Victor Meldrew in training, I'd say

Yeah, definitely a bit of him in there, too.

When you're slowing down for a red light and timing it so that you can roll through when it turns green....but it stays red and you stop for about one second before it changes green.

It's like that nearly every time at the lights near the mall, made worse as the string of lights on the road are out of sync so you can never go through more than a set without stopping.

Every time unemployment statistics show fewer unemployed people, some idiot will say that it is because their benefits ran out or that it is because of seasonal workers. Neither of those things affect the unemployment rate. It doesn't matter if you tell them that, they will say the exact same thing next time.

The better figure to use is the number of people gainfully employed. People do drop off the unemployment figure if they stop claiming unemployment. The figures are seasonally adjusted to take account of seasonal workers.

Most of the media reports do state fairly clearly that the "unemployment figures" are the aggregate of people claiming unemployment pay.

I used to love timing my slow-down so I could roll through on green, but in today's world of everyone running red lights, I'm less enthusiastic to be entering that intersection the moment it's legal!
