Pet Peeves?

I could start printing all my emails but the search facility is not so functional.
I am just taking it as part of the job that sometimes I just need to spend time revisiting issues. This is healthcare of course and it's not meant to be efficient.

Trying to understand US construction works.
This morning there were no flaggers but had coned off the the right turn, ahead, and left turn into a single lane. I wanted to turn left but the left turn filter would not work because that lane had been coned off.
I have no idea how I was supposed to deal with the lights. I managed to eventually go on a flashing orange after 3 changes of lights.
I think the flaggers were supposed to start around 30 minutes after they had coned off the road.

It is a mystery to me why I have never seen temporary traffic lights used at roadworks in the US - they all seem to rely on two or more flagmen depending on whether the flagman are within line-of-sight of each other, and sometimes with a pilot truck through the single lane section (functionally similar to a token on a single track railway - you can only go through when led by the pilot truck).
This is an interesting variation on temporary traffic lights

I used to know some people who had a little dog called Peeve. He was their pet Peeve.

We have had construction near me for about a year and I'm always seeing people being stopped for speeding. The most police I have seen on the 2 mile stretch is 3, with 3 people pulled over.

I saw my first one EVER just last weekend. It was on a FM out in God's country. There was a bridge down to one lane due to repairs/construction but it was the weekend and nobody was working. They had one set up on each side and it all worked beautifully.

But this is America! In Phoenix, they have removed many if not most of the red light cameras because they were deemed unconstitutional. I personally didn't pay a fine (due to negligence) and never heard a word.

I forgot constitutional rights come far ahead than public safety. Oops , my m̶i̶s̶t̶a̶k̶e̶ bad.

I tripped a few speed cameras (NEVER a red light camera) in Britain (saw a flash), but never got a ticket, and one in Germany. A couple in the UK I used to trip deliberately because the camera only faced one way, but could be tripped in either direction!
