Peeves for today:

I. Got a parking ticket because I left the truck parked overnight in the street. First time I forgot to park it in the driveway in 40 years. Have submitted a request for review/ investigation to the police department along with a written excuse which I think is pretty valid

2. Annoying callers from telemarketers who think I do remodeling projects on my home 365 days a year. The more numbers I place on the blocked caller list the more who seem to call

3. The price of a gallon of gas just went up 30 cents overnight. The great California Gouge has just begun with the clapped out excuse that the refineries are beginning to change over the gasoline from the "winter blend" to the "summer blend" Ha! ha ! ha! The big oil companies must be laughing at us poor California drivers all the way to the bank.

Bosses who think it's OK to tell someone in Atlanta at 3.30 on a Friday afternoon to be at the DC office at 8.30 Monday morning

Yellow pages. WTF are they for in the 21st century? I suppose I should be thankful we only seem to get two phone books each year, whereas we get two free "newspapers" in plastic bags thrown on the end of our driveway every week.

We have an unsubscribe option here. I haven't seen a phone book for 3 years now.

Every airport security has different rules, most of them barely have signs that tell you those rules and therefore what to take out of your bags and whether to remove shoes, most of which are arbitrary and pointless anyway - all TSA agents get pissed off at you for not telepathically knowing these rules.

Then you have to hobble over the crusty carpet to put your shoes back on while clutching bags, laptops, and coats.

That's what you get when your recruitment is based on pizza boxes.

I see that "ongoing training" is included, so as many of us suspected, the TSA staff are not fully trained before being let loose on the traveling public!

I was at Rite-Aid this summer when I over heard the pharmacy tech ask what "b" "i" "d" means. I spoke to the pharmacist and apparently they have them working back there entering & filling scripts for 2 weeks before they go through their pharmacy tech training. He tried to reassure me that he was supervising her... I was too exhausted to bring it to a different pharmacy at that point but I requested she not handle my prescription at all.

The thing about the TSA is that they are pretty much just Walmart checkout assistants with the power to hold you in the backroom for a few hours and steal some of your groceries (a 200ml bottle doesn't contain more than 100ml of liquid when it is 25% full, I needed that!).

When I flew through Philadelphia I met an English TSA agent, although I was too tired to thinking about quizzing him on how he ended up in that job.

I had no clue what this meant so looked it up. I suppose a pharmacist should know this but why the 'f' are they using latin terms for such mundane and important instructions?!
b.i.d. (bid or BID) is twice a day; b.i.d.. stands for "bis in die" (which means, in Latin, twice a day). t.i.d. (or tid or TID) is three times a day ; t.i.d. stands for "ter in die" (in Latin, 3 times a day).

My thoughts exactly! But then I rarely have prescriptions - I don't think I've had more than two since I arrived in the US 14 years ago, and it might only have been one.

That is just how it's done, but those abbreviations are one of the first things you learn in any type of healthcare training and it's used ALL THE TIME with prescriptions. It's not a question that anyone filling prescriptions or entering them into a computer should be asking.

Homeopathy. It's bad enough that this snake oil exists. Now my cousin just got married and his wife runs some sort of homeopaty business. She keeps posting crap on Facebook about it. It is taking all my will power not to lay into her. I might just have to hide her posts or unfriend her.

Tell her that the less she talks about homeopathy, the more effective her statements will be.
