You write the dollars in words and then a fraction on the end?

You do.

And then you have to show your credit card as id....

Our town, excise tax is by cash or cheque, DD is done online through a third party, for a small convenience charge of $5.

School milk money, it's subsidised so only about $5, but if paid online there's a $4 service charge and that's also if you top up lunch card....so kidlette gets a cheque for it.

Bit annoying.

Our MUD is the same...$2.00 for paying by dd, although I can
pay it via free online bill pay which generates a paper check to mail to theme:huh:
School meals, if paid online, attract a service charge of 5%, with a minimum of 2.50. So given I only put $20 bucks in at a time, and that tends to last a semester, I tend to write a check for that (free) or send cash.

Interesting to see that people pay for checks...I get them free from the bank. Last time I got renewals, some years ago, they sent 8 boxes with ( I think ) 8 books x25 checks in each box. I was on the last box when our old account was "potentially compromised " and when I got the checks for the new account, there was only one box. The writing is on the wall......

Either will do, but the cc is sillier.

Not dissimilar to the old cheque card in the UK though....although at least on that they did used to do a rudimentary signature check.

And signatures on the "writeable" strip on the back of a 3⅜"x2⅛" plastic card are nothing if not rudimentary!

It's the American way!

Btw, I pay for my registration online (when I'm organized and not having to run to the local privatized license shop.) I don't think I pay an extra charge for that. Which reminds me, I need to register my car this month!

Mine too, but then remember I have delegated the signing effort to my personal checkout assistant.

The dam garden hose, it always kinks and gets knotted up after putting it away.

Yes we have a hose reel but that is pain that it is worth.
