Anytime I think Americans are particularly ignorant, I try to remember just how little the average Brit knows about Ireland -- I'd be amazed if more than 10% of English people could name the main political parties or the Prime Minister.

I think if you can't name the major parties (or Prime Minister) of the only English-speaking country that shares a land border with where you now live, then you're pretty ignorant. I would say the same about an American who couldn't name the PM of Canada.

I knew who it was when I lived there, couldn't give a whole flock of flying ****s who it is now. It's still not important. Politics was only invented for those who aren't smart enough to understand science, engineering or the higher humanities.
