How did I not know about this? To all the lovely people who've left me karma/kind comments over the past 2.5 years, thank you. I wasn't being ignorant

Is there a function to reply to them individually? I'm certainly going to use karma going forward.

You can send them a private message or, do what many of us do, find a random unrelated quote of theirs and give them a nice karma message.

I found the karma messages purely by chance last year too. I was going through a horrible time at home and it just made everything better.

Sorry to hear you were having a rough time, the messages I found made me smile too. Of course, I'm now in danger of checking obsessively!

Go to the 'my profile' bit on the blue bar, and underneath all the threads you are subscribed to and have replies you haven't yet seen there is a list of the [people that have given you karma, and the post you were given karma for.

Can also be used to send snarky comments if you don't want to be bothered with using PM.

Not that I've ever done anything like that, obviously

That's a really weird way of saying 'if you're a cowardly wanker ..."

The difference between PMs & karma messages is that PMs are saved & can be reread.

I find I forget who I've given karma to ... & what I've given it for, though it's usually a post that either makes me laugh or nod my head vigourously.

It's often the same posters, but I try to vary mine a little so as to avoid the dreaded "You must spread karma around before you give it to this poster AGAIN!" message....

Fusty ,boring old mod toddles on by

Anyone on the receiving end of karma or private messages of that ilk can let a moderator know if they wish. Either forward the PM or copy and paste said karma message and let a mod have that. That's not to be a big girls blouse but if it is bothersome in some way best let a mod know.

That doesn't stop the receipient sending a suitably worded PM in reply.
