Well my hubby is an Aircraft Engineer, and whilst it isn't totally known if the cloud could bring down a plane there is a well documented flight incident where all 4 engines of a BA 747 were stalled due to the plane flying through an ash cloud:

So I would certainly be erring on the side of caution - I also am wary that the flights resume due to pressure - just my opinion though...

I'm not sure I want to be under the flight path of those first few flights that bow under the pressure of not losing any more money/passengers
