couldnt you just blitz sliced almonds in a food processor?

I suppose so but they have a high oil content and I am not sure that the food processor can do it fine enough.

I can get Cross and Blackwell mincemeat locally but my mother had to send my the tin because the tins you get here are too deep. I have never found (in 16 years) ground almonds or marzipan here though :(

I used almond flour last year (which seemed to be basically the same as ground almonds) for my christmas puds. Can't remember where the missus found it but can find out if you want?

We have a family tradition of making our own mincemeat and lemon curd. The problem is that the commercial stuff never tastes as good once you've had the home made.

Know what you mean. I make picallilli and pickled onions....can't stand the stuff in the shops now.

Turns out we got it at a shop near where we live (Dorothy Lane Market) but I reckon you should be able to find it elsewhere
