you do realize don't you uncle bob - that some kids can develope allergies later in life. I do hope that never happens to your kids - as i'm sure you would insist they kept eating PB sandwiches as is their right - despite that it may hurt them a lot.

Of course, it would be much easier for UB, with peanuts being a good source of protein, PB sandwiches not needing to be refrigerated, and all that.

'You've got a nice family there, Uncle Bob, shame if one of them developed an "allergy"'.

Uncle Bob, it was you wasn't it.

(I found the story a bit confusing and raises questions it did not answer)

On the contrary, I suspect his head is "up", .... quite a long way up.

I suspect that a lot of such notices, both on packaged foods and at restaurants, is a driven by legal liability concerns, not by the actual risk of exposure to nuts.

'We're not a nut-free airline': Family of girl, 4, who suffered allergic reaction are removed from flight after asking crew not to serve cashews on board to anyone else in their cabin
Girl went into anaphylactic shock after eating nuts on United Airlines flight
US-bound plane turned around and made an emergency landing in Dublin
Family travelled to New Jersey but was removed from return flight to Ireland

Why do you twist my words with mini quotes and add childish insults? I'm actually acknowledging that rare allergic issues exist but am also questioning the sudden increase in the cases? As such I also want to know why you want everyone else to attempt to eliminate peanuts from the world? You know you are pissing against the wind in that respect right?

Speaking of head up somewhere here is a quote from you when i mentioned that i had a proven medical condition of severe sleep apnea.

I guess i had to be your daughter to have my condition recognized ??? Since you used to think like me before something happened in your family.

That's the interesting question, and one with several theories but no answers, most revolve around our changing diet (and old foods that are no longer the same as they were). I thought all this gluton intolerance et al was a reflection of a self-centric, self-obsessed society, and an over eagerness to be a victim. But now knowing several I see that it is indeed a reality. As a society we seem to have developed new allergies for modern life.
